The
Center for Learning Excellence hosted its fifth annual Summer Institute, sponsored by the Ohio Alternative Education Advisory Council and the Ohio Department of Education, in June of 2005. The Institute provided three days of intensive professional development focusing on three themes: High Quality Instruction, High Quality Relationships, and High Quality School Climates. The Institute provided participants with theoretically sound, evidence-based strategies that have been proven effective with at-risk youth in traditional and alternative environments in both urban and non-urban settings.

The 2005 Summer Institute hosted an exciting lineup of local and national presenters including
Dr. Robert Barr of the Center for School Improvement from Boise State University, Dr. Robert Welker of Wittenberg University and Jill Hipkins of the Wayne County Family and Children First Council. Leading professionals in their fields brought their knowledge, experience, and research to the Institute providing participants with essential information for effectively educating youth.

The 2005 Summer Institute featured:
