Judith Hassel

Judith Hassel is the Assistant Director for Alternative Education at the Ohio Department of Education, Center for School Reform and Options. Judith completed her undergraduate work at Ohio University and her received her Master's Degree in Early Middle Childhood at The Ohio State University. She has been teaching at the elementary and university level for 20 years. She comes to ODE from Ohio Wesleyan University where she taught Educational Psychology, Social Studies Methods, supervised student teachers and Ohio Wesleyan's community/school program, “ Visiting Classroom”. Her interest is in alternative education and at-risk children. She currently spends several evening hours a week coordinating a tutoring program for hospitalized incarcerated youth at Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility.

LaTanya Dunn

LaTanya Dunn is an Education Consultant on the Alternative School Team at the Ohio Department of Education, Center for School Reform and Options. LaTaunya completed her undergraduate work at Wright State University and received her Master's Degree in Educational Administration at the University of Dayton. She taught elementary and special education for 10 years. She provided support as an instructional resource facilitator for teachers serving students who were at risk of failure by providing leadership in research-based instructional practices (e.g., cooperative learning, multiculturalism, learning and teaching styles, etc.) Her last position held before leaving Springfield, Ohio to come to ODE was as the K-12 Math and Science Supervisor. LaTaunya has spent her career providing services for academically and socially disadvantaged students as well as being a resource for teachers.

Richard Googins

Richard Googins is a Consultant for the Ohio Department of Education within the Center for School Reform and Options.  Richard received his Master's Degree from The Ohio State University and also has a Teacher Certification in the areas of Earth Science and General Science.  Richard taught science for four years at the Ohio Department of Youth Services Riverview School for Boys, and has worked with ODE since 1993.  He was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Instructional Design and Media at The Ohio State University.  He consults with 49 various Alternate Education Programs across Ohio.
