North Central Ohio Region
Heartland Behavioral Healthcare
Medina, Ohio
The Heartland Behavioral Healthcare agency provides mental health
services to children and families in six counties in Northeast Ohio.
This regional organization has a longstanding history of responding to
new and unique challenges in the delivery of services in a variety of
settings. The agency’s Children and Family Services staff has extensive
experience with difficult to treat children, including those with severe
behavioral handicaps (SBH) and those with more serious mental illness.
The agency operates two day-treatment programs that provide intensive
day treatment services to adolescents in conjunction with an SBH program
in the Medina City Schools. In Trumbull County, the agency’s Child and
Adolescent Alternative Program (CAAP) provides classroom-based services
in the Warren City Schools. In Summit County, Heartland provides services in
support of an alternative school program called the Family Academic
Collaborative Treatment Team. The agency provides similar services in
Ashland County. These pre-existing efforts across counties make
Heartland a
natural selection to provide technical assistance on a regional basis.
